S4 Photochromo (photochromic) lenses have millions of molecules of substances, such as silver chloride or silver halide, embedded in them. Under artificial lighting conditions these molecules are not visible. When they are exposed to UV rays from sunlight, the molecules undergo a chemical reaction which causes them to change shape. This new molecular structure absorbs portions of the visible light, causing the lenses to darken. The amount of molecules that
